Genome-wide analyses reveal population structure and identify candidate genes associated with tail fatness in local sheep from a semi-arid area

چکیده

Under a climate change perspective, the genetic make-up of local livestock breeds showing adaptive traits should be explored and preserved as priority. We used genotype data from ovine 50 k Illumina BeadChip for assessing breed autozygosity based on runs homozygosity (ROH) fine-scale structure detecting genomic regions under selection in 63 Tunisian sheep samples. The average inbreeding coefficients ROH were estimated at 0.017, 0.021, 0.024 Barbarine (BAR, n = 26), Noire de Thibar (NDT, 23), Queue fine l'Ouest (QFO, 14) breeds, respectively. relationships among individuals identity by state (IBS) distance matrix highlighted recent introgression QFO into BAR differentiation NDT samples, possibly explained past European gene pools. Genome-wide scan across within sample set identified an outstanding signal chromosome 13 (46.58–49.61 Mbp). These results confirmed using FST index, differentiating fat vs. thin-tailed individuals. Candidate genes pressure (CDS2, PROKR1, BMP2) associated to lipid storage probably preferentially selected fat-tailed animals. Our findings suggest paying more attention preserve integrity alleles breeds.

Genome-wide Association Study to Identify Genes and Biological Pathways Associated with Type Traits in Cattle using Pathway Analysis

Extended Abstract Introduction and Objective: Type traits describing the skeletal characteristics of an animal are moderately to strongly genetically correlate with other economically important traits in cattle including fertility, longevity and carcass traits. The present study aimed to conduct a genome wide association studies (GWAS) based on gene-set enrichment analysis for identifying the ...

Genome-Wide Association and Transcriptome Analyses Reveal Candidate Genes Underlying Yield-determining Traits in Brassica napus

Yield is one of the most important yet complex crop traits. To improve our understanding of the genetic basis of yield establishment, and to identify candidate genes responsible for yield improvement in Brassica napus, we performed genome-wide association studies (GWAS) for seven yield-determining traits [main inflorescence pod number (MIPN), branch pod number (BPN), pod number per plant (PNP),...

Genome-wide DNA methylation profiles reveal novel candidate genes associated with meat quality at different age stages in hens

Poultry meat quality is associated with breed, age, tissue and other factors. Many previous studies have focused on distinct breeds; however, little is known regarding the epigenetic regulatory mechanisms in different age stages, such as DNA methylation. Here, we compared the global DNA methylation profiles between juvenile (20 weeks old) and later laying-period (55 weeks old) hens and identifi...

Genome-wide association study to identify candidate loci and genes for Mn toxicity tolerance in rice

Manganese (Mn) is an essential micro-nutrient for plants, but flooded rice fields can accumulate high levels of Mn2+ leading to Mn toxicity. Here, we present a genome-wide association study (GWAS) to identify candidate loci conferring Mn toxicity tolerance in rice (Oryza sativa L.). A diversity panel of 288 genotypes was grown in hydroponic solutions in a greenhouse under optimal and toxic Mn c...

Genome-wide screen identifies new candidate genes associated with artemisinin susceptibility in Plasmodium falciparum in Kenya

Early identification of causal genetic variants underlying antimalarial drug resistance could provide robust epidemiological tools for timely public health interventions. Using a novel natural genetics strategy for mapping novel candidate genes we analyzed >75,000 high quality single nucleotide polymorphisms selected from high-resolution whole-genome sequencing data in 27 isolates of Plasmodium...
